Here are my cherry recipes — baking, varenyky and jam. A good place to start is kefir muffins with cherries and orange zest or the Monastery Hut cake with sour cream frosting.

How I cook with cherries

For cakes frozen pitted cherries work perfectly well — in the drunken cherry cake too. But for cherry varenyky I don’t pit the cherries, so the juice doesn’t leak out.

If you are making jam

Cherry jam, and sweet cherry jam with a hazelnut in place of each pit.
